The Zhuangzi, attributed to Zhuang Zhou (c. 369-286 BCE), is one of the foundational texts of Taoism alongside the Daodejing.

## The Butterfly Dream (Epistemological Challenge)
Zhuangzi dreamt he was a butterfly, flitting about happily. Upon waking, he questioned: Was he Zhuangzi who had dreamt of being a butterfly, or a butterfly now dreaming of being Zhuangzi? This challenges the certainty of waking consciousness, the stability of personal identity, and the hard distinction between dreamer and dreamed — a radical epistemological challenge.
