# Nursing Critical Care ## Hemodynamic Monitoring Critical care nurses must interpret MAP (Mean Arterial Pressure) to ensure tissue perfusion. Target MAP is typically 65-70 mmHg. Monitor CVP (Central Venous Pressure) as an indicator of preload and fluid status. ## Respiratory Management Management of ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome) requires precise titration of PEEP (Positive End-Expiratory Pressure) to maintain alveolar recruitment. Strict oral hygiene and subglottic suctioning are mandatory to prevent VAP (Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia). ## Neurological Assessment Utilize the GCS (Glasgow Coma Scale) for serial assessment. Sudden changes in neurological status necessitate immediate intervention and neuro-imaging. ## Pharmacological Intervention Titration of vasopressors (e.g., Norepinephrine) must be performed via central line. Nurses must verify ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) protocols for rhythm disturbances. ## Critical Thinking - Assess trends, not just snapshots. - Anticipate complications: Sepsis, organ failure, acid-base imbalances. - Maintain sterile technique for all invasive lines.
